An email subscriber happily submitted her sales page for my review and gave me permission to share what I think about her copy (publicly). In the recording I critique: the structure of her page, the opening, her program name (spoiler alert: it needs help), the flow from one section to another, her pricing (it’s so important to get this right), and the key elements her page is missing.

Q: I want to write product descriptions and not necessarily a long sales page. Will Copy Slam help me?

A: I do not explain how to write product descriptions inside of Copy Slam. I cover the development, flow, and effectiveness of a long form sales page. The material inside is best suited for entrepreneurs who sell live group offerings, digital products, and/or transformational services.

With that said, Copy Slam will help you understand the fundamentals of sales writing and learning those fundamentals can definitely help you change your approach as you rewrite your product descriptions. Very often new entrepreneurs will list their services in their shop on their website, and I’ll say “hey you should make a sales page for this and it’ll sell better.”

Q: Is it possible that my copy isn’t the problem? Is it possible I’m not getting the sales and sign-ups I want for another reason?

A: That’s totally possible. For example, if you’re not getting new eyes on your writing, content, offerings or services on a monthly basis, well — that’s a problem. I learned this lesson early on. I had a 10k launch, then a 17k launch, and the next launch (of that same product) was just shy of 8k. I quickly realized my list growth needed to be addressed before I opened enrollment (for that product) again.

That said, if you have a feeling your copy isn’t effectively communicating the true value of your offering I’d recommend ruling that out.
